Activity 1: Do your Trend
Step 1: Brainstorming:
- Share your ideas for a new trend you would like to start.
- Think outside the box and consider various areas like fashion, music, art, social media, or any other relevant field.
Here are some ideas: Sustainable Fashion, Random Acts of Kindness, DIY Urban Gardening, "Unplug and Connect" Day, Fitness Adventure Challenges, Art Therapy Movement, Outdoor Cinema Nights, Expressive Dance Parties, Multicultural Food Exchanges, Positive Affirmation Walls.
Step 2: Trend Development:
- In your respective group, discuss and refine your chosen trend idea.
- Consider elements like: the trend's purpose, target audience, visual representation, and potential impact.
- Use the vocabulary studied in class (at least 3 examples) Check the vocabulary bank below.
- Optional: Use a video/image and comment on the visual:
Use phrases like: So here's ... / Now, notice that... / Can you see...? / So, pay attention to... / So, over the next minute, you'll see...
Step 3: Present it to the class
- The class will vote for the best trend proposal.
Activity 2: Homework review
1. Share what you understand about the meaning of the vocabulary below:
2. Spin the wheel and use the word you got in context (it can be Costa Rica). Give examples that you have practiced.
Some examples:
- "The celebrity's talent was over-glorified by the media, leading to unrealistic expectations from their fans."
- "The movie received mixed reviews because some critics felt it was over-glorified and lacked substance."

Activity 3: Predicting Trends
1. Work with a partner and discuss which of the following innovations you think will become more popular in the future? Use the following questions to help you:
2. Rank these potential trends where 1 is the most possible future trend and 10 the least
Time: 5 minutes.
3. Pick the innovation you ranked 1. Write a description of the product or service and a prediction about it. Example:
Time: 10 minutes.
4. Get ready to present your top 3 to the class. Use the phrases to describe probability as shown below:
Time: 10 minutes.
Activity 4: "Project Ripple" Amplifying Positive Change

Objective: The objective of this project is to identify a social issue or challenge you are passionate about and design a small-scale initiative to make a positive impact in your community or beyond.
Duration: 45 minutes
Topic Selection: Select a social issue or challenge that you care deeply about. It can be related to education, health, environment, poverty, mental health, community development, or any other area of interest.
(5 minutes)

(10 minutes)Collaborative Brainstorming: Join another group in a brainstorming sessions to share your findings and ideas. Collaborate to identify:
- Common themes
- Potential project ideas
- Ways to leverage your collective skills and resources
(10 minutes)Project Proposal: You can now combine or choose only one of the two propousals to develop it
(5 minutes)Development: Develop a project proposal outlining the specific initiative, including:
- Goals
- Target audience
- Resources needed
- Anticipated outcomes
(10 minutes)Present the proposals to the class. Make use of the vocabulary of Unit 1:
